I first came to know of Gracewinds through my doctor, as my newborn son was experiencing difficulty breastfeeding during his early weeks of life. My doctor and I had tried everything, and since no women in my family have been able to breastfeed for generations, I had all but given up hope that I would be able to do that for my son. That is, until I met Gracewinds. From the moment I walked into my appointment, I was completely at ease. The Gracewinds complex is maternal and warm, and my lactation consultant made us instantly comfortable. She was incredibly knowledgeable and approachable, and despite my fears—she had my son successfully nursing in less than ten minutes. With their clinical set-up, we were able to gauge how much milk was transferred; (two ounces in a matter of minutes!) It was one of the happiest moments of my new life as a mother. In my one hour with this amazing woman and this outstanding clinic, my relationship with my son changed forever.

"I got three massages while I was pregnant. One at a salon/spa on Queen Anne, one at a salon/spa in Ballard, and one at Gracewinds. Gracewinds was by FAR the best experience. The staff there go through special training in prenatal massage (unlike at other spas where they just seemed to slightly alter a regular massage). Anyway, I was so relaxed and blissed after my massage at Gracewinds, I literally had to count my money 5 times before paying. I was so out of it. It was heavenly. I only wish I hadn't wasted my two previous massages on places that weren't nearly so great at catering to the needs of my swelling body."

"My wife chose Christine Wallace as her labor Doula. Chris owns and runs Gracewinds Perinatal Services in Ballard which offers childbirth classes, pregnancy massage, mom's groups, and other services for new moms and moms-to-be. Chris is a CMA, has been a Doula for years, and has five kids of her own. We got to know Chris through the childbirth classes we took at Gracewinds and really liked her. We also met with her several months prior to our son's birth to talk about our birth plan and get even more in sync. My wife's labor went quickly but it was still a lot of effort obviously. Chris really helped my wife, and she was a great help to me as well during the delivery. She gave both of us confidence that we were doing the right things. My wife and I recommend her highly."

"Gracewinds has been a huge part of my growth into motherhood and has provided me a place for my son to just grow. I have been involved with the Footsteps new moms groups since my son was two months old. I've developed strong friendships with the other moms and with Chris, our facilitator. We have supported each other through sleepless stretches, teething, changing relationships, and- oh, did I mention sleepless stretches? We have learned from the many people that Gracewinds brings together: lactation consultants, herbalists, child development specialists, educators, therapists and each other. Gracewinds truly offers everything that a new family could need under one roof."

"Chris and the Doulas at Gracewinds have assisted many of my patients over the past four years. Every experience that I or my patients have had with her services has been excellent. Chris offers excellent patient support through labor. Chris and the various other Doulas that I have worked with through Gracewinds have consistently been supportive and balanced in their perspective. Prior to working with Chris and Gracewinds, our office has had several very unsatisfactory experiences with Doulas in working against physicians or the nursing staff. Chris and Gracewinds have always been excellent team players with no "anti-establishment" agenda that I have run into with other Doulas. Gracewinds also provides a variety of educational and postpartum support services that our office uses frequently and is quite satisfied with. Chris has always been careful to tailor her educational services in a balanced way and has often asked for physician advice."

"Gracewinds has gathered together professionals whose practices compliment one another and whose services are very desirable at this time in Seattle. Many women are looking for complimentary and holistic approaches to dealing with pregnancy issues. By creating a collection of services under one roof, Gracewinds has helped to make these services "user friendly". Her space is professional, warm and inviting, and women feel comfortable dropping in. I know of no other place in Seattle like it."
