Northwest Hospital Family Education Classes
Provided below are detailed descriptions of the classes offered, as well as schedules and pricing information. Once you have selected the class or classes you would like to take, follow the link at the bottom of the page to our online registration form. After you have successfully registered, you will be able to pay for your class/classes online as well.

For cancellations, Gracewinds will refund your class fee, minus $20 administrative fee providing we have received notification prior to 10 business days before the first class. Due to the limits of our class sizes, we ask that you not change class/classes or date(s); however, if it is necessary, a change can be processed for a $10 administrative fee per change requested. No refunds or transfers will be granted after the class start date. Tuition rates and schedules are subject to change. Gracewinds reserves the right to cancel any course due to insufficient enrollment. (Tuition will be refunded in this event). There is a $45 fee for returned checks.
All Inclusive Family Education Package
Includes Childbirth Prep Series or Weekend Intensive, Newborn Care, Breastfeeding Basics, Infant Safety/CPR and Foundations for Fatherhood.

Childbirth Prep Classes (4 & 6 Week Series)
The 6 Week Series includes Breastfeeding Basics and Newborn Care classes. This course is designed to give expectant parents the tools and information needed to utilize during childbirth. Classes cover topics such as physical aspects of labor/ coping techniques and natural pain relief methods/ pain medications/ variations of labor and post-partum issues. Participants are encouraged to interact and discuss aspects of labor and techniques. Instructors are certified and experienced.
Materials Included: Textbooks "The Gift of Motherhood" and "The Pocket Doula- A Labor Partner's Guide to Surviving Childbirth"
Four Week Series
Cost: $115 per couple
Schedule: Each class is from 7 - 9 PM in the TCU Auditorium.

Childbirth Prep - Saturday Intensive Series
This course is an intensive version of the Childbirth Prep series. It does not include Breastfeeding Basics and Newborn Care classes. Please register for those classes separately.
Cost: $125 per couple
Materials Included: Textbooks "The Gift of Motherhood" and "The Pocket Doula- A Labor Partner's Guide to Surviving Childbirth"
Schedule: The class is held on Saturday from 9 AM - 5 PM. All Classes meet in the TCU Auditorium.

Newborn Care
An important class for first time parents, this class focuses on newborn behavior. Topics range from diapering, cord care, sleep and feeding habits, colic relief and changes that occur in newborn babies. This class is included in the 6 Week Childbirth Prep Series, but can be purchased individually as well.
Cost: $40 per couple

Breastfeeding Basics
An important course for mothers (and partners) intending to breast feed their infant. This class is designed to educate parents on proper feeding techniques and positioning, body mechanics to alleviate sore muscles, troubleshooting tips to prevent and improve issues that can arise during breastfeeding. This class is included in the 6 Week Childbirth Prep Series, but can be purchased individually as well.

Infant Safety/CPR
A two hour course taught by a certified CPR instructor. Topics include infant safety issues, basic first aid, techniques for relieving an obstructed airway as well as American Red Cross Infant CPR basics. Parents leave with the basic knowledge of infant CPR. This class does not include a certification card.

Foundations for Fatherhood
A class for expectant Dads. Taught by an experienced father, this popular course is formatted to address the issues of fathering...providing the information and support to help fathers feel more involved and confident in the arena of birth and child-rearing.
Cost: $30
Schedule: Classes are from 7 - 9:30 PM in the TCU Auditorium.
