Massage Therapy

Relieve the discomforts of pregnancy and post-partum with massage.
An effective tool for relieving the stress and fatigue associated with daily activities, massage therapy can reduce the healing time for acute injuries and aid in repairing many chronic physical conditions. Massage can ease the discomforts of the last two trimesters of pregnancy as well as provide exceptional pain management during labor. After delivery, massage aids in soothing tired muscles and provides necessary nurturing time for moms. Gracewinds staff of Therapists provide massage to partners and family members as well.

Craniosacral Services
Craniosacral work is a very gentle, non-invasive hands-on approach that focuses on the Craniosacral system of the body. This technique has been effective in evaluating and treating problems associated with pain, dysfunction and stress, as well as lowered vitality.
Newborns may experience trauma to their system during the birth process, and this can manifest itself in colic, breathing difficulty, swallowing problems, and chronic ear infections. Craniosacral can address the problems as they occur, but can also be used as prevention. Infants and children are exceptional candidates for Craniosacral treatment as they are typically very receptive to the gentle manipulations and the bones of their heads are still not fused solidly together.
Contact Sarah Ruth or Jana Panter at Gracewinds for more information and to make an appointment for Craniosacral work.
Acupuncture - Prenatal & Post Partum
Based on the energetic model of traditional Chinese medicine, dating back over 3000 years, Acupuncture recognizes the vital energy behind all life forms and processes. This energy, “Qi”, circulates through the body along well-defined pathways. If this energy flow is disrupted, normal physiological function is affected resulting in pain or illness. Hair-thin, sterile needles are inserted into specific locations to balance the flow of Qi supporting the body’s natural healing process.
Acupuncture provides drug-free treatment for many conditions often experienced during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Some of the conditions that acupuncture can treat are:
- Morning sickness
- Anxiety and stress
- Headaches
- Labor preparation
- Postnatal depression
- Lactation difficulties prolapses
- Allergies and asthma
- Back pain
- Edema
- Premature contractions
- Pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH)
- Breech presentation
- Stalled labor
- Fatigue and insomnia
- Constipation, diarrhea and hemorrhoids
It is recommended that pregnant women receive weekly acupuncture beginning the 37th week to help with reducing labor duration, relaxation and to facilitate a smoother birth process.
Acupuncture is also helpful for menstrual disorders, PMS, infertility, menopause imbalances and many other female conditions.
